Welcome to my website

We all have many journeys. Gary’s began in a small Midwest town, where he could play unfettered in the woods, finding an early love for nature and learning self-reliance. The space program and the night skies hooked him on astronomy. After finishing college, the wide world beckoned, and his fascination with science drew him to California to participate in the booming tech industry. Now he still stares upward, wondering what it all is about.

Let's Talk About the Future

Let’s have a calm conversation about the future we are creating together. We can make it better. Join the conversation by coming to my blog. And find the Media tab for recent podcasts.

Is there any good hiking in Scotland?

By Gary F. Bengier | May 30, 2020

“So, Paul, is there any good hiking in Scotland?”   Gary here. Thanks for stopping by! That was the innocent question from my brother-in-law, Don, that started it all. The three of us—myself, Don, and my friend Paul—were sitting around a campfire at Benson Lake, deep in the Yosemite backcountry. It was a slog to… Read More »Is there any good hiking in Scotland?

Self-Reliance: Build Your Own Dream Tree House

By Gary F. Bengier | May 22, 2020

Treehouses can be an excellent opportunity to do something yourself, without undue reliance on anyone else. I’ve found if you embrace your independence and are methodical, then lots of problems fall away, and your path forward clears. This attitude also teaches one to be more methodical in doing any project, perhaps being more “zen.” Which… Read More »Self-Reliance: Build Your Own Dream Tree House
